Ingredients for Cookies: 1 egg 1 cup of butter plus some extra to grease cookie sheet 1.5 cups of powdered sugar 1 tsp. of vanilla (I prefer the vanilla from Mexico) 2.5 cups of flour plus additional flour for cutting board 1 tsp. of baking soda
Ingredients for the Icing: 1lb box of powdered sugar Water Food coloring
Optional: sprinkles or colored sugar to decorate
Directions: Mix the egg, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla together throughly. Next, blend in the flour and baking soda. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours (you can chill it overnight as well).
Preheat the oven to 375. Roll partial balls of dough on a lightly floured to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Using cookie cutters, cut dough into desired shapes. Place shapes onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 7-9 minutes or until lightly browned on the edges. Allow them to cool for a minute on the cookie sheet and then remove. Remove from the cookie sheet and cool completely before icing.
Icing Directions In a bowl, mix the box of powdered sugar with about a tablespoon of water. Mix well. If the icing is too thick, you can add a little bit more water.
Divide and color the icing as desired. Ice the cookies and decorate as desired. Make sure the icing is completely dry before stacking or wrapping the cookies. It could take up to 8 hours to dry.
